John’s passion for photography began in junior high. He had very basic gear but found tremendous satisfaction seeing an image develop before his eyes in the family basement “darkroom.” Subsequently, photography took a distinct back seat while John pursued a business career.

He was reacquainted with photography while planning a trip to Antelope Canyon in Arizona. The description of incredible images to be captured of slot canyons brought back fond memories of photography.

John retired early to pursue a new career as a landscape photographer. The opportunity to combine photography with hiking in wonderful parts of the world was too enticing to delay any further! Despite world travels, Muskoka and Algonquin Park are still his favourite locations to shoot.

John gets tremendous satisfaction from the journey of capturing each image. The story behind each shot – the travel to get there, the time of day and the set up to capture each image – are all part of that journey.
